the last show of octoberlaide is upon us. friday the 31st @ rhino room w/ twilight bazaar. doors at 10 and it’s halloween so… i don’t know… you can dress up or something. poster!
the last show (@ the jade monkey w/ we grow up and the warsaw flowers) was a cracker… or, as the english say, a biscuit. there’s a review by adelaides premier diss-dishing, camera-wielding, blog-posting psychonaut spoz at spoz’s rant. and photo’s such as this one…
this firday’s gig (w/ twilight bazaar @ rhino room, 10PM) will probably be the last for sometime. with one song written per show i’ve now a bag of tunes to commit to tape and a hunkering down must be done. i will see you on the other side… and this friday! bobobob.
hi to anyone i met a ‘this is not art’ and is, by the slightest chance, reading this. wow. fun. in other news… did anyone know channel ten was busted for subliminal advertising during the arias? and now, due to a very sus verdict, it seems a flash of 2 frames is considered subliminal while a flash of 3 frames is veritably liminal. media watch has the details. video.
my tour of octoberlaide is tearing through time and space… limited to october and adelaide respectively. posters!
so i’ve booked an impossible number of gigs just as i was set to hide away and record. hmmm. solution: to write and perform 1 new song at each show. here they are:
wow. cut and paste has come along way since highschool plagerization and i don’t even know who to thank for it. anonymous programmer, my gratitude knows no horizon.
two new animated music videos by me for faux pas tracks coach and coach in reverse now officially exist. if you browse my animation posts there are lots of behind the scenes/making of pictures and such. but right now, infront of the scenes, this! wait… these!
the last track on faux pas’ ep changes is coach in reverse and i think it’s become my favourite of the two. the drum beat’s a musical palindrome. %101 genius.
a collage of mine, “Space Katts: Attakk Formation!!”, is up for sale so if you’re so inclined you can buy some zeal that you can hang on your wall. ofcourse you can always buy a cd and hang that on your wall. but this is bigger. and it’s made out of lots of bits and pieces from the faux pas clip that’s still a secret.
also still running is the portable film festival where my clip “salt” is votable. It’s big and shiny… as compared to youtube which is small and grimy.
some gigs are approaching. new tunes and *visuals*.
Sat Oct 18 w/ BrotherSister @ Ed Castle
Fri Oct 31 w/ Bird Lantern @ Rhino Room
Fri Nov 14 w/ We Grow Up and Radio Spectacular @ POPSICLE
i’ll put flyers up as they come into existenz.

p.s. daily moment will be up and running again when my data cable arrives. a note to the world: LG mobile phones have shocking connectivity.
zeal is in the portable film festival! my clip for salt is up for voting. gosh i hate these voting things. damn lazy event promoters putting the onus on the artists! bah! i should be spending this time making things. but i’m not. i’m here convincing you to vote for me. you’ll be happy to know that i spent the last few months making something instead of convincing you to vote for me. and here (vote for me) it is! a new clip for the impossibly lustrous: FAUX PAS and his track Coach.
hooray! there’s another secret new faux pas clip by me up on youtube/zealtv too and i think it’s better. those of you with the faux pas changes EP might have an inkling as to what it might be… have a look why don’t you. and while you’re there check out my shiny new “channel honours”. i’m the #89th most viewed musician in australia today. that’s going in the pool room.
and thanks to the people who donated their cats. i’m sorry i couldn’t bring all of them back to earth. kittens burn up surprisingly fast on re-entry.

ah, it’s nice to be back. so, i’ll have to put up a more detailed post but basically - i got my appendix out. july tour is canceled. now it’s an october tour and will likely take in sydney, melbourne, brisbane and canberra. The Faux Pas film clip is finished!! i’ve been writing and recording so expect some new music and you can even come and hear a new song here:
more details about all of these happenings (and more!) in a future post… i’m off to practice.
much has happened, is happening and will, most probably, happen. last show was a good one. there were painters. that was great. again, again!
faux pas clip still going well… end in sight. hoo. ray. (spoiler alert: the following picture depicts in detail the intense emotional resolution at the end of the clip)
touring in july - canberra, melbourne and tasmania. sydney too with a little luck. and sydney again in october! couple of good adelaide shows coming up too but i’ll put them in another post and leave you with what lay at the top of my drive way… i’ve got a feeling david lynch dropped it there…
Zeal is 23 year-old Adelaidien, Robert Jarvis. He makes down-beat experimentapop in his bedroom studio and animated music videos about cats in space on his bedroom floor.
